Product Description

Other factories using an aluminum ring painted black on the camera-body-side, we instead take no short-cut but use precision-machined brass with chromium plating on both the camera-body and the lens sides of our adapters, in order to ensure smooth mounting, great appearance, and durability. Our new EF-NEX II series of products add industry-leading electronic interfacing technology from English, with true electronic control of the lens' aperture directly from the camera body. Features: True electronic integration of aperture diaphragm - let camera automatically choose aperture in P or S exposure modes, or dial in yourself on the camera body in A or M modes. EXIF data such as lens identification, focal length and aperture. Note: 1. Vignetting at corners may occur for certain EF-S lenses because they are designed to cover a 1.6x crop image circle but Sony NEX has a 1.5x crop sensor. 2. A third party zoom lens may need to be registered with the Smart Adapter first in order to detect its maximum aperture. Autofocus is disabled for most third-party lenses. Note: • Sigma 17-70/2.8-4 OS HSM may occasionally run into a focus accuracy issue at the telephoto end. This Adapter is also compatible with fully manual lenses which have no electrical contacts. Customers have reported success with the following fully manual lenses. • Samyang 35/1.4 • Zeiss CP.2 25mm/T2.9 • Zeiss CP.2 100mm/T2.1 Note: 1. 1. Lenses not listed above are not tested and they may or may not work. "Hi,

I just bought the Viltrox EF-NEX II adapter (now adapted for FF, without the need to cut any corners  ) from China, via eBay. It cost me 86€ (approx $115) including shipping cost!

The quality of physical construction and firmware are surprising, esp considering the low price.

The most important observations:

1) lens data is correct in EXIF, the lens name becomes slightly modified, however

2) autofocus and aperture control work

3) lens switches (e.g. AF/MF) are properly relayed to camera

4) APS-C cropping with EF-S lens is correctly relayed to camera (works in Auto mode)

Unfortunately I forgot to test the IS (or OSS in Sony language) functioning and switching from the lens.

PS I must say, that the EF 16-35 F2.8 achieved focus much more reliably, than the EF-S 17-55 F2.8. However, because with 3rd party lenses/adapters Sony a7 only supports contrast-detection AF, the process may be long and focus hunting is inevitable, esp in low light. MF with focus assist worked surprisingly well in that store environment, however"
